UPDATED: Dwight to Houston?...

This post is close to my heart since I've been a Houston Rockets fan since FOREVER, during the good, the bad and ugly (Sam Cassell, j/k)! The Dwight circus has made another stop in Houston and it seems that Rockets general manager, Daryl Morey is about to send the whole team including, the water boys, his first born, 'the 95 championship trophy, Yao Ming's ankles and Turbo to the Orlando Magic for the league's "Loyalty" poster boy.

The proposed deal according to ESPN.com

"The Rockets, if they go ahead with their widely reported plans to release starting power forward Luis Scola via the NBA's amnesty clause, are prepared to absorb the contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon -- in addition to sending Orlando multiple future first-round picks and recent draftees -- to give the Magic an opportunity to wipe their payroll virtually clean for their post-Howard rebuilding effort.
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is feverishly trying to construct a trade that will allow the Rockets to take back, in addition to Howard, some combination of Richardson, Davis, Duhon and Hedo Turkoglu. With Scola's three remaining seasons valued at roughly $21 million off the books, the Rockets believe they can create the requisite cap space to do so.
Friday thus looms as a pivotal day in the Rockets' all-out quest to trade for Howard. Not only is Houston expected to formally waive Scola on Friday, but sources say the Rockets will also finalize their long-awaited offer sheet to New York Knicks restricted free agent Jeremy Lin. The Knicks have been adamant that they will match Houston's four-year offer to Lin valued at just under $29 million, but they can take three days to do so once Lin signs."

I am honestly tired of hearing Dwight's name and I want him to land somewhere asap. Now in regards to the Rockets, this is not the best deal for the franchise because they are simply rolling the dice. Dwight has no loyalty and he is very wishy washy and it is not guaranteed that he will return to the team after year one. Is Dwight worth giving up, Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Chandler Parsons (who has a promising future, I must say), as well as the draft rights of Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, and Terrence Jones (2012 Rockets first round draft picks)?

Yes, Dwight is worth the chance, he is the one of the league's top centers (he's no Olajuwon though), but I can not trust his maturity level. If the Rockets can bring Howard in, roll out the red carpet and convince Howard to sign an extension then Morey is a genius...if not, Morey will be headed to monster.com. Since this is a developing story, I will keep you posted.

Update (7:52 ET): In related news, ESPN's reporting that Jeremy Lin has signed the Rockets offer sheet...
"Jeremy Lin has signed a three-year offer sheet with the Houston Rockets, according to a source close to the talks. The deal is worth a little more than $25 million -- $5 million in the first year, $5.225 million in the second year and $14.8 million in the third year. The Knicks have three days to match the Rockets' offer".
